Switzerland x Belgium

It was the finals of the annual International Chocolate-Making Contest. The contest had already been narrowed down to two, and Vash was one of them. He had already been announced and a light shown on him and his display of various different flavours of chocolates, all neatly decorated and organised. He wasn't aware who the other finalist was, but he was pretty confident of himself that, whoever it was, he had a good chance in winning. He looked over, awaiting for the other finalist and their entries to be revealed.

Hearing her name announced, Belle proudly headed into the central area, a short distance from Vash as another light lit up her own stand of carefully prepared and organised chocolate. With a quick glance over at him she suppressed a laugh, of course he would be the other finalist of all people, it'd certainly make for interesting competition to see who wins now.

As Belle was announced as the other finalist, Vash couldn't help but slightly frown. He didn't really know who else he'd expect, but he could admit to himself (but no one else) that winning could be harder than he thought. Without showing any signs of caring that she was the other finalist, he turned his head away, waiting for the final results to be set in place and finally announced.

Again containing a laugh, Belle glanced around and hummed and nodded as it was revealed the overall winner will be announced in a short while. Hopefully that'll give her time to talk to people! Maybe even Vash, before the winner is announced and someone gets jealous and no one wants to talk.

Instinctively, Vash felt a little nervous when it was said the winner was to be announced soon. I mean, what if he didn't win? He couldn't let that happen, especially not to Belle- he'd probably have it held over him for a very long time, right? Impatiently, he tapped his foot, hoping to get it over with and receive results that fit to his liking.

After a short talk by the hosts, the two were dismissed from the spotlights so the judges could have a final look at each of their stands before announcing their conclusion. Belle glanced at her stand, again making sure everything looked in it's place before heading off but waiting just out of sight.

Being dismissed, Vash traveled away from his display and out of the spotlight. He still felt impatient, and it was noticeable too. His arms were crossed and his eyes were kept staring at the ground or to the side. He reached the spot out of sight from the audience, and stood just a few feet away from Belle.

Finally letting herself laugh a little, Belle moved towards Vash "Are you planning on smiling any time soon?" she then began to lightly prod at his shoulder, continuing "You know you're guaranteed second place at least, so act like it!"

Vash kept his slight frown when Belle had began to poke at and talk to him. He had only moved his eyes to look in her direction and said nothing in return except for a subtle, "Hmm."

At Vash's lack of reaction Belle crossed her arms and stared silently for a moment, before returning to prod his shoulder again "Is there any way to make you even smile? ... Let alone talk?"

Vash glared and felt irritation from Belle's poking and prodding. Eventually, he turned his entire self to face in her direction. "Why do you care?" he questioned.

Quickly returning to her usual cat-like smile, Belle responded, "Why not~ It would be a nice change!"

Vash rolled his eyes and shook his head at Belle's answer before turning himself back to his original position. "That's not a good answer," he grumbled.

"I think it is~" With another prod at his shoulder Belle persisted, determined to see if it was possible to get any positive reaction, "Do you have to be grumpy all the time?"

"No," Vash responded, "I don't." He didn't bother turning back around to Belle, or even really look at her. He simply kept facing forward as he spoke.

Quickly exhaling a sigh Belle crossed her arms "Okay then. Let's take this one step at a time. What makes you... Not grumpy, then?"

Vash huffed. "Why are you being so persistent?" he questioned Belle, "I don't see any point to it. You're not going to get anywhere with this."

With a short quiet laugh Belle replied, "Because it's nice to see others happy."

Vash didn't bother replying this time, he just continued to stand there. Soon enough, the two of them were called back up. Vash made his way and stepped back into the spotlight that beamed on his stand of chocolates. He waited, impatiently, wanting to hurry up so he could leave and go home.

Unsure whether she should be irritated at his ignorance, or amused at how childish it seemed, Belle was about to continue but was stopped when they were both called back up. Shaking her head lightly and also heading back to the stands with a pleased smile back on her face and waited eagerly to hear the decision, glancing around at those watching the two.

Standing beside his display, Vash waited, as the announcer spoke, which would eventually lead up to the results. For the most part, he simply downed out the speaking, only ready to listen when the winner would be told. He tapped his foot and crossed his arms, looking down, giving everyone a sign up his impatience. Soon enough, his ear caught the words he'd been waiting to hear, "And the winner is..." He was indeed a bit nervous, although tried to make himself appear that he didn't care, or that he was already sure of the result. Suddenly, as the decision was announced, all attention turned toward Belle, as the hosts of the competition went to congratulate her. Vash's jaw dropped, and shaped into a frown, showing his disapproval and disbelief of the choice; he had lost.

Upon hearing her name called, Belle couldn't help but let an expression of delight spread over her features, she would have been lying if she were to say she knew she would win. As she was congratulated she let out several 'thank you's, even going as far as to give one of the more friendly looking hosts a quick hug. She soon remembered about Vash and waved as if calling him over to the small crowd, she was still determined with her earlier task, this just might make it a little harder.

Vash scowled at the happy celebrations going on not too far away. He was blatantly annoyed, rolling his eyes every now and then and for the most part, keeping his eyes faced down, looking up only sometimes for a very short time. One time when he did look up, however, he could see that Belle seemed to be waving to him, signalling him to come over to the celebration. He simply shook his head, as if rejecting her offer and in fact, stood in the same place for a while, before he begrudgingly decided to make his way over.

Juggling the attention from those around her with calling Vash over, Belle realised he had started making his way over. Promptly sticking her hand out to shake his, she offered a smile.

Reaching the crowd, Vash could see that Belle was waiting there, her hand out and smiling. Instead of reaching back out to shake her hand, he crossed is arms and looked to the side.
