Madeline skipped happily through the beautiful forest with a pep in her step. She was on her way to visit her good friend Lilli today in hopes of having a fun time today. Maddie couldn't recall the last time she and Lilli spent the day together considering she was always caught up with her bossy father and rebellious older brother. Hopefully, she'll be able to have a "normal" day today. Maddie smiled brightly at the sight of the small cottage just over the hill; she was finally at Lilli's house. She made her way up the stone path and upon reaching the door step, Maddie knocked on the door.

Hearing a knock on the door, Vash begrudgingly got up from the small sofa he'd been sitting on, and headed to the door not too far away. Placing his hand on the handle, he turned it, opening the door wide. He looked out, seeing someone he supposed was a bit familiar... Madeline was it? Even so, he had definitely seen her before. Lifting an eyebrow, he tilted his head to the side oh-so-slightly, not saying a word as if he were simply waiting for the other to speak first.

Maddie glance up at the man, taken aback. This must be Lilli's older brother, she assumed. He looked rather menacing compared to his sweet, adorable little sister. She smiled nervously and began to speak. "B-Bonjour!" She stuttered. "I-Is Lilli home?"

Vash glanced around, a bit confused as to why she seemed frightened, but ignored it for the most part. "No," he began to answer calmly, "she isn't home. What did you need her for?" When the question came out, on the other hand, his tone changed from being calm, into a protective-suspecting sort of tone.

"Oh," She muttered softly. "W-Well, I was just wonder if the two of us could go hang out for the day." Maddie answered with a grin. "I haven't seen her in a while so I thought I might stop by but.....". Maddie glanced down at the ground, attempting to hide her sadness then quickly looked back up with a smile. "It's alright; maybe some other time?.... I'm sorry if I disturbed you, sir."

Vash felt a bit uneasy at the sight of Madeline becoming upset; he wasn't really okay with being around anyone upset. He shifted around a bit, before setting his attention back on her, "Are you going to go now then?" he asked, coming back to a calmer tone, "Or what?"

"Oh, " Maddie muttered. "Oh yeah; of course." Maddie turned around and began walking away from the cottage, clearly knowing she wasn't wanted here.

Feeling a bit bad for making Madeline feel unwanted, especially since she had claimed to be a friend of Lilli's, Vash thought a bit, before going into action. "I never said you needed to leave you know," he muttered a bit, just loud enough for her to hear, "But it's not like we know each other or anything. It's your choice." He didn't necessarily want to be bothered with having someone over right now, but he didn't want to cause for someone to be upset either.

Maddie quickly turned around and forced a smile. "Its fine! Really!" She called. "I'm sure you're really busy or something!" She took another step back, a bit nervous.

"Then don't be upset," He said, still keeping his head poked out the door, and huffed.

Now that, struck a nerve. Maddie's emotions quickly changed from nervous to frustration. How dare he say such at thing? She was only a bit shy that's all! She's never met this stranger ever before and it's not her fault he looks so evil and menacing! She stormed back up to the door step with a huff and glared the man dead in the eyes. "Well if you so insist, I'll be happy to stay," She spat furiously.

Vash stared, a bit stunned that Madeline had changed her mind so quickly and extremely. He hesitated for a bit, and shifted his eyes around, before giving a questionable nod. He then opened the door, allowing her to come in the house. Why did I have to invite her in? She could have left and been long gone by now!

Maddie stormed into the small house and sat herself down at the kitchen table. She didn't have a clue as to why on earth she was staying here but she wasn't about to let Vash get away with being so rude.

Following Maddie inside the house a bit uneasily, Vash took a seat back on the sofa, trying to ignore that someone else was in the house, and picked up the small stack of papers he had set down on it from before. He began to read over them, and wrote small things on them every now and then.

Maddie sighed and looked around the kitchen dully, feeling boredom's curse slowly taking its tole. She needed to do something; anything! She got up and wondered the kitchen, hoping to find anything to entertain herself somehow.

Noticing Maddie began to wander, Vash peered up from his papers, squinting his eyes slightly at her and made sure she didn't get into anything.

It wasn't long until Maddie found herself back at the table again, pouting in failure. This house was so boring, it made England's look like a fun house. Maybe she could see what Vash was up to? It'll give her something to do at least. And so, she rose from her seat and walked over behind the sofa were Vash sat.

Feeling a bit uncomfortable with the sudden guest inched behind him, Vash turned his head up from his papers, and looked behind at her. "What are you doing?" he questioned.

"Just wondering what you were going," she answered. Maddie sat down next to Vash and inched a bit closer. "Your house is kinda boring," she stated flatly then peered over at the heavy load of papers. "Whatcha working on?"

Vash lifted an eyebrow at Maddie. "That's none of your concern," he mumbled, lowly, as he inched slightly away from her.

"I was just wondering!" She bickered, followed by a pout. "It's not like I'm gonna blurt it out to the whole world or anything!"

Vash huffed. "Keep your business to yourself," he warned, inching away a bit more now.

Maddie frowned at the mean the Swiss man but took the hint and just sat there, pouting and grumbling to herself. So rude.

Vash continued to go through papers, before stopping and looking over at Maddie again. "If you're bored, just leave. It's not that hard."

Maddie turned to Vash and gave the man a harsh glare. "Maybe I just will," She instantly got up from couch and stormed out the door. As she quickly walked down the cobblestone path back into the woods, she fought the back the tears coming from her eyes. How could Lilli ever deal with such a rude man for a brother everyday?
